STANDARD:
Black Mouth Cur

SIZE -- Males: 18" to 24" tall at the shoulders; 40-60 pounds
Females: 16" to 22" tall at the shoulders; 35-50 pounds.

BODY -- Strong wide chest, moderately curved rib cage, well muscled, broad and straight down the backline, smoothly blended.

HEAD -- Wide with short to medium muzzle, with clean smooth jawline.

EYES -- Large, well opened and rounded, set well apart, dark brown or yellow in color.

TEETH -- Strong, adapting in a perfect scissors bite.

NECK -- Muscular, broad at base, blending smoothly into the shoulders.

LEGS -- Well muscled, strong boned, set well apart, slightly rounded feet with well arched toes.

TAIL -- Medium in length, slightly arched over the back, smooth to slightly feathered.

HAIR -- Short, smooth with fine undercoat.

COLOR -- Solid colors of red to light blonde with black or white markings about the head, legs and feet. Some black down the backline and tail acceptable. Black or white markings not to exceed 20% of total color. The nose, lips and inside of mouth are to be black.

VOICE -- Loud, deep chop, silent on trail preferred.

CHARACTERISTICS -- Should hunt with head in the air, also using eyes and ears. Strong treeing instinct. Courageous fighters. Highly alert at all times. Intelligent with strong devotion to their master.
