Shang-Hai Tibetan Mastiffs

We have nine dogs residing in our home. They are all members of our family.
They are all housedogs and come and go in and out at will. Our first TM was Dorje, solid black and quite large for a female. Unfortunately Dorje is no longer with us but is in "greener pastures". She was bred only one time and we have a male from that breeding.

His likeness to his mother is uncanny. He was born 1/13/93. His name is Ch. Shang-Hai's Dexter Drakkar TT or "Drake" as he is called. He has a scissor bite and his hips and elbows are certified good through the OFA. He has sired only one litter and we do not plan on using him any further. He is black and tan, 28" and 120 lbs. He is a terrific housedog and a wonderful companion. Drake is a neutered male and is our faithful and loving companion.

Yebo was our second TM and has proven herself to be one of the finest producers in the U.S.A. She is black and tan, with a scissor bite, 11 years old, OFA good, 25 1/2" and approximately 115 lbs. She has produced 4 litters and has produced many, many champions of record. She also has produced the top winning TM in US history. She is now spayed but carries on the hierarchy as leader of the pack.

Her daughter is Ch Shang-Hai's Mystical Medusa, known to her friends as STRETCH! Stretch is a beautiful black and tan bitch, 24 1/2" and 100 pounds, OFA Good. She won the prestigious Invitational Tournament of Champions, and the coveted Doreen Zalis Memorial Trophy in 1995, and is the only Tibetan Mastiff in history to achieve either. She has won numerous Best in Shows, many being under world-renowned judges such as Christopher Habig, who has judged many times at the World Show. Stretch has proven to be a star again in her breedings and produced some of the most gorgeous pups Shang-Hai TM's has ever bred. She is the dam of ATMA/ARBA/INT'L/CANADIAN RARITIES CH. Shang-Hai's Jack the Bear and Multi Ch and Multi Best in Show Winner Shang-Hai's American Legend. She had adorable pups in 1996 (Jack and Princess Kaya are just two of them), and she was the cutest puppy herself!

We also have another Yebo puppy named Ch. Shang-Hai's Tazz-Manian Devil, and does he ever live up to his name. He is very active. He is about 27 inches and weighs in at 122 pounds. . Structurally he is very difficult to fault. His hips are certified through the OFA. He is a Yebo son and half brother to Stretch. He loves to romp with his live in girlfriend, Ch. Ashley's Dreamcatcher Jamars, "Kitty Catt", who is my daughters dog. She is of wonderful type, black and cream 25 inches and 100 pounds. We purchased her as a 7week old puppy to incorporate some fresh blood and a somewhat different pedigree into our breeding program. She is very European in type, shorter on leg, wider of body, very nice bone. She is a real character and just loads of fun and full of energy. She is also certified through the OFA to be free and clear of hip dysplasia.

We also have Multi Ch. Shang-Hai's Jack the Bear. He is a son to Stretch and Harley from their first breeding. What a big, funny boy. Jack is OFA Good and sired a beautiful litter last year with Kitty Catt and is a multi Best in Show Winner and the Best of Breed Winner at the 2000 ATMA National Specialty. He was shown at 2 shows at 4 months of age capturing in the 1st show BOB Jr. Puppy, Group 1 Jr. Puppy and BIS Jr. Puppy. 2nd show BOB, Group1. We were so excited about Jacks litter with Kitty Catt that we of course had to keep one to add to the Shang-Hai collection. Her name is Shang-Hai's Princess Anastasia. She has been shown several times and is halfway to achieving her championship at the ripe old age of 9 months. Anna is a very busy girl and gets the Miss Congeniality award at home as all the other dogs just adore her. We are looking forward to much success in the future with Little Miss Anna.

We also repeated the Stretch x Harley breeding since we were so impressed with the first go round, and of course we kept a baby from that breeding. Her registered name is Shang-Hai's Queen of Egypt but lovingly know to her family as Cleo. Cleo was out a couple times as a young puppy and did quite well but has not competed in the "adult ring". Cleo is quite a large girl weighing in at almost 100 lbs. and just 9 months of age. We very much look forward to watching her grow into the wonderful bitch that we are sure she will be.

Last but not least we also decided to keep a puppy from the CC x Gen breeding. She is not the traditional Shang-Hai black and tan but is a blue and tan so it is a new experience for us. She is just beautiful, and completed her ATMA Championship at just 7 months of age defeating many mature champions taking 2 Best of Opposite Sex wins to Uncle Jack. She is also pointed with ARBA and the RARITIES.

Shang-Hai believes that it is very important to breed for temperament before anything else since they are only show dogs a small percentage of their lives. Our dogs are with us for their lifetime. It is most important to us that our puppies go into loving homes. If they are shown then that is a plus, but we feel it much more important that they are kept in an environment full of love.
