As a general rule: I keep puppies until 10 weeks of age minimum to allow for maximum socialization with their mother, littermates, and other adults. I will not ship a Bergamasco puppy alone on a plane. It is best for people to come to pick up their puppy by car, if that is possible. For those flying in from distant states, I am willing to try to meet them in Boston, Portland or Manchester, N.H., in order to limit their airfare expense. Usually, if planned far enough in advance, it is possible to get a round-trip airfare price that is comparable to what it would cost to ship, anyway. This way, the puppy can ride in the cabin with you and not have its life, health or emotional well-being jeopardized by a ride in the hold of a plane.
